A letter from the founder
A letter about the small details I look for in the colourful collared tops I choose for everyday outfits with jeans.

A little colour can make an everyday outfit feel entirely different.
I've always thought it's funny how much attention we give to clothes for special occasions.
A dress for a wedding. Something nice for a birthday lunch. We think about those outfits for days.
But the clothes we wear most? They're usually the ordinary tops we pull on with our jeans for coffee, the shopping or a catch-up with a friend. I think those deserve just as much thought.
I'm Olivia, and that's why I pay attention to the small details when I choose tops for Daily Aussie. Here are the six I look at, and how one leads to the next.
Looking nice shouldn't mean spending the day feeling uncomfortable.

Easy through the middle, with a shape that still looks chosen.
Start with the middle. Some tops look lovely on the hanger and feel different once you're wearing them. You sit down at the café and it rides up, or clings where you'd rather it didn't, and for the next hour you keep tugging it back into place.
A top that's too loose isn't the answer either. I look for something in between: easy through the middle, with enough shape that it still looks chosen, so you can forget about it and get on with your day.
Fit varies between styles, so check the measurements for the one you like.

Room to reach, lift and carry on.
A top that looks right when you're standing still is only half the story, because you won't be sitting still all day. A sleeve can look fine in the mirror, then pull the moment you reach for a cup or lift the shopping into the boot.
That's why I look at sleeves closely, and why the sleeve measurements are worth checking before you order. Fit differs between styles, so I can't promise every top will suit every arm.

Same jeans. A little collar. A different feeling.
Once a top is comfortable, you want it to look nice too. Same jeans, same shoes, but the outfit can look different depending on what sits above them. With a plain tee, it's casual. Add a collar, and it looks a little more considered.
A soft collar frames your face and adds some structure, without the stiffness of a buttoned-up blouse.

The fabric, up close.
A top can look lovely in a photo and still not feel right on a warm day. Australia gets hot, and one that traps the heat is miserable by lunchtime. Fabric that looks soft online but arrives thin or clammy is a common disappointment.
Styles can differ, so I won't make one promise about every top. Please check the fabric details for the style you choose before ordering, and ask us if anything isn't clear.

One pair of jeans, several easy outfits.
Once you know what to check, the fun part is choosing. It's Saturday morning and you're off to lunch. You take your favourite jeans from the drawer, and instead of working out what goes with what, you reach for a top you love.
Perhaps the blue-and-white patchwork, in blue, navy and white. Perhaps the green botanical, with its pink, blue and cream flowers. Or the black one with the pale floral detail. If you like more going on, there's a vibrant multicolour design too.
The jeans stay the same, and each one gives the outfit a different feel. There's no right answer, so choose the one that makes you smile.

Lay a top you love flat and compare.
Once you've found a print you like, it's still sensible to check the details before you order. Shopping online means trusting a photograph, so it's fair to be careful. Look at the photos, read the fabric details, and lay a top you already love flat to compare its measurements with the size chart.
Our shipping and returns details are on the policy pages. Please read them before you order. I'd rather you feel informed than rushed.

An ordinary day, and a top that's a pleasure to put on.
Before you have a look, here's the short version of what I'd check.
| What matters | What often goes wrong | What to look for |
|---|---|---|
| Midsection fit | Clingy, or so big it hides everything | Easy through the middle, with some shape |
| Sleeve comfort | Narrow openings that pull when you bend your arm | Room to move, and sleeve measurements to check |
| Collar and neckline | A plain round neck, or a stiff collar that gapes | A soft collar that frames the face |
| Material information | Vague descriptions and surprises on delivery | Clear material details before you buy |
| Everyday styling | Needs a special outfit built around it | Goes with jeans you already own |
| Size guidance | A size label and nothing else | Measurements to compare with a top you love |
I'd rather you check than simply take my word for it.
Olivia, in one of my favourites from the collection.
I like colourful clothes that don't make a fuss, and I believe ordinary days deserve enjoyable clothes too. Different women love different things: some are drawn to a bold print, others to something quieter. I'd never want to tell you which is right. What matters is choosing something that suits your own taste, and checking the practical details so you can wear it happily.
That's really all I care about: that the top you pull on for an ordinary day is one you're glad to be wearing.
If you've been looking for something nice to wear with the jeans you already love, I hope you'll enjoy having a look through the collection. There are several different prints, so take your time choosing the one that catches your eye, and do check the measurements and fabric details for whichever style you prefer. We are currently running our 20th Anniversary Spring Sale, so it is a good time to find your favourite, or two.
